Hanging a poster without drilling is easier than you think. Whether you rent, have a concrete wall or simply don't want holes: with the right method your poster hangs straight and neat. Here are six ways, from quick and cheap to tidy and sturdy.
1. Removable adhesive strips
Adhesive strips with a pull tab are the best-known option. Stick them to the back of a frame or directly onto a sturdy poster and press firmly for 30 seconds. Check the maximum weight per strip and always use at least four on a frame. They work best on smooth painted walls.
2. A picture ledge
A picture ledge is ideal if you like to swap posters: you stand the frame on it instead of hanging it. Ledges are usually screwed on, but adhesive versions exist too. Handy for combining several sizes side by side.
3. Poster hangers
A poster hanger consists of two wooden or magnetic rails that clamp the top and bottom of the poster. Hang it from a small adhesive hook. The result is clean and no frame is needed.
4. Clips on a string
For a playful look, stretch a string or thin wire between two adhesive hooks and hang posters with clips. Perfect for a kids or student room, and you can swap posters in seconds.
5. Magnets
On a metal wall, magnetic board or fridge door, strong neodymium magnets are an invisible solution. Use one in each corner, especially for larger sizes.
6. Dibond on a ledge
A poster on aluminium dibond is 3 mm thick and always stays flat. Don't want to drill at all? Stand it on a ledge. Prefer the wall? Dibond hangs with its mounting plates on a single nail or screw.
Which method suits which size?
For 30x40 and 50x70 cm, adhesive strips, clips and poster hangers work fine. For 60x90 and 70x100 cm, a frame on a ledge is the safer choice. A black frame with plexiglass also keeps your poster flat and dust-free.
Tip: keep your poster flat
Did your poster arrive rolled? Roll it the other way for a few minutes, or leave it flat under a stack of books overnight. Still looking for a poster? Browse our bestsellers.
